Think of this as a marriage of Christian Marclay’s ‘The Clock’ and Into It. Over It.’s ’52 Weeks’. This is 24/7. Starting Friday, November 29th, 2013 I will begin a new project of writing biographical songs during a specific hour of my day. The lyrics may be about what I’m doing at that moment, what has already happened that day or what’s supposed to happen later, or maybe just what’s running through my mind at the time. RULES:
- I can’t reuse any times. I can only select a specific hour once. In other words, I will get to choose hours 12:00 AM – 11:00 PM only one time. (No half hours or minutes, I’m going to try to do this on the hour)
- I must alternate days and can’t repeat a day until all 7 days in the week are used up. This Schoenberg-ian process should allow me to select from an unknown variety of writing topics, as each day will be different.
- After a song is written, I will try to record it and post it in exactly a week and then post it at the same hour that I originally wrote it. So if I wrote a song at 9 AM on November 29th, I’ll post it a week later also at 9 AM. This should be cool, so you should know when to expect to hear a song from me.
At the end of the project I’ll have all 24 hours documented and hopefully a fun catalog to listen to and look back on.
**The 24/7 Project was officially completed on Thursday October 2nd, 2014**
